The Flow
/ learning centre / multi-purpose event space
The spaces within the building has been designed to encourage a large variety of activities – everyday and one-off entertainment for the community.
A hierarchy of spaces is established to allow events to happen at different scale at the same time: educational space allowing for the children and adult alike to learn about the industrial past of Lea Valley as well as of the Wildlife which overtook the industrial presence on site – passive and active learning, flexible furniture and a permanent exhibition/gallery co-exiting and relating to each other.
The project will be targeting the communities living within the area, new people moving in and possibly becoming a weekend destination – a get away from the busy city life.
Enhancing the journey along River Lea Navigation channel through introducing intermediate stations for cycle storage, relaxation and shelter from the weather are a sub-focus of the program.
